An exploration of The National Plant Collections®

" the human desire for order and regularity, it's endless urge to impose structure and pattern on a planet whose ultimate beauty is its unpredictability, its randomness, and its wild freedom."

(ARMITAGE, Simon. Introduction in Landmarks. Dewi Lewis Publishing, 2001).

This work uses growing environments as a metaphor for the investigation of people's relationship with the natural world and their desired control and ownership of it.

Latin names collected from catalogues and plant labels during visits to the various glasshouses provide the captions in Green Fingers. They are designed to be displayed in alphabetical order to echo the classification of plants.
