During Summer 2003, I was artist in residence on an Exmoor hill farm where I lived and worked with the family to produce work documenting their lives and relationship to stag hunting and was mentor to a textile artist. Focus on Farmers toured galleries and community venues in the South West during 2004/5. My final work included the production of an artist's book 'Growing up with Horses', which looks at the relationshp of the Exmoor area and the Hawkins family to horses and hunting. Covered in hunting fabric inspired by the farm interior, the book incorporates various texts including excerpts from interviews with the family, found objects scanned into the computer as well as the photographs. Commissioned by Aune Head Arts with Beaford Arts. |
