Welcome
to our new restaurant and foodstore. We serve lunch from Hitchcock’s
is a privately-run restaurant, headed by chef Cinzia Ghignoni, who
previously worked at Villandry and La Fromagerie in central London.
Cinzia’s parents ran a salumeria in Milan all their lives and, thus,
Cinzia gained a strong knowledge of food and a desire to open her own
restaurant. Our
aim is to provide authentic and satisfying dishes, made using the best
ingredients and prepared from scratch. And when we say scratch, we mean
it! If you would like mayonnaise with your meal, Cinzia will prepare it to
order. Every constituent of your meal is prepared by Cinzia on the
premises, from the stocks and sauces to the bread and desserts. We
only use free range eggs, milk from the local dairy, organic flour, local
and, where possible, organic vegetables or vegetables imported from
countries whose climates make tomatoes in December genuinely possible,
such as southern Italy. We serve French butter, use extra virgin olive oil
to cook, two-year parmesan to sprinkle, barrel-aged Tuscan vinegar to
dress and, of course, cheeses from La Fromagerie and Neal’s Yard, all of
which is for sale in the shop, along with our own imported wines and
pasta. All this comes at a price, of course. But what we hope to show is that high-quality, hearty food need not cost the earth, but should also be worth spending that little extra. We look forward to seeing you soon |
