04-Jun-2003 Release KDE 3.1.2b

Lots of niggles sorted out.

Same issues as per 3.1.1 release.

Konqueror web browser - Not a konqueror problem. but a qt3/kde3.1.x problem
Workaround is to add the following entries to the ~/.xftconfig file: -

# fallback fonts for 'Misc ...'
match any family == "Misc Console" edit family += "Courier New [Monotype]";
match any family == "Misc Console Wide" edit family += "Courier [Cronyx]";
match any family == "Misc Fixed" edit family += "Fixed [Misc]";

Thus the affected fonts (Misc Console, Misc Console Wide and Misc Fixed are replaced with fonts that work !

28-Apr-2003 Release KDE 3.1.1a

Security release pertaining to handling of ps/pdf files.

Same issues as per 3.1.1 release.

14-Apr-2003 Release KDE 3.1.1

Installation issues

  1. kprinter -> crashes -
    When attempting to print from any kde application the kprinter window opens and almost immediately crashes the calling application.

  2. Konqueror web browser -
    • Some tables are rendered excessively wide. Check example 1 or example 2 if you're running an affected browser (SuSE 8.1, KDE 3.1.1 and qt3 3.1.2 …)
    • Style sheet usage of fonts seems to be broken. Defining a class for the paragraph tag to use the 'Fixed' font. Displays no text.

Resolutions

  1. kprinter -> crashes -

    Bug #56263 at the KDE Bugs site refers to a kprinter/cups problem when connected to the Internet.

    Tried using lprng instead of cups, but configuration of SMB printer not working. Turning off the Internet connection whilst prinitng does work so it is the same bug. The workaround used in the end was to change the IP address of the host (devn) to 127.0.0.2 instead of one that was unused when not connected to the home WAN. I.e. bug only manifests itself when the machine is run in a dhcp'd environment.

  2. Konqueror web browser -
    • Table rendering. Raised a new bug #57088 at KDE bugs site.
    • Fixed font lost ? Workaround, for now, is to use a different font.
