Welcome to St Andrew's, the Cathedral Church

of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Glasgow

St Andrew's Roman Catholic Cathedral is  situated on the edge of Glasgow's Merchant City, on Clyde Street, near the suspension bridge. It is recognised as Glasgow's first major piece of Gothic revivalism.

Glasgow has FOUR Cathedrals. The others are:

Glasgow Cathedral (Church of Scotland)
St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral
Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Luke

After its completion in 1816, St Andrew's soon established itself as a focal point for the life of Glasgow's expanding Catholic population. The hierarchy of Scotland was restored in 1878, and, six years later, St Andrew's became the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

Today, the Archbishop and Metropolitan is
Most Rev. Mario Joseph Conti.

Although the parish is small, large numbers come and find here a welcome place of quiet in the city centre. Many people have a great loyalty to the Cathedral and come long distances to assist in the celebration of the Liturgy and to help in looking after the fabric.
